General Queries:

Q: My tap is dripping from the end of the spout, what do I need?

A: If there is constant dripping from the end of the spout this usually means that one or both valves have worn and need to be replaced. Simply search for the tap brand and then model of tap you have (identify using the tap images on each page) and all components relevant to your tap will be shown. 

Q: Will I be able to change a tap valve myself?

A: We provide full instructions detailing how to carry out the change and we have some video content to help with this. See our valve change video here.

Q: What is the difference between a tap valve and a tap cartridge?

A: None, they are the same thing, just different terms used.

Q: My tap is leaking from the base of the spout, what do I need?

A: This usually indicates that your taps O-rings need to be replaced. Simply search for the tap brand and then model of tap you have (identify using the tap images on each page) and all components relevant to your tap will be shown. 

Q: There is a brass ring on the tap valve I have removed but not on the new part, is something missing from my order?

A: This is a valve bush, please remove it and fit it to your new valve. Sometimes the bush can get stuck on the old valve, if this is the case and you're having difficulty removing it please call us on 01226 283434 (option 2).

Q: I have no idea which manufacturer's tap I have - it was in the house when we moved in. What can I do to find spare parts?

A: That's not a problem. Just send a digital photo of your tap to sales@tap-spares.co.uk and we will try to identify it for you. If it was made by a manufacturer that we support, there won't be a problem with spares, although most warranties are not transferable between householders so parts will be chargeable. 

Q: What warranty do you offer?

A: We offer a two year warranty period on valves and working parts. 

Q: How long should the valves last in my tap?

A: The valves in a tap are working parts, just like the spark plugs in your car! They will wear out over time, depending on how much they are used. Please check with the original manufacturer for the guarantee offered on your kitchen tap, most reputable tap manufacturers guarantee the original tap for a minimum period of two years.

Tap Flow Rates:

Q: My new tap is not working very well. The flow is poor. What should I do?

A: First of all, you should check that the tap is suitable for use on your hot water system. It may be that you do not have enough water pressure for the type of tap. Alternatively the spout may be blocked - remove the screw in diffuser at the end of the spout and check that it has not been blocked during installation.

Delivery:

Q: How long will it take for the part to arrive?

A: We aim to despatch goods ordered before 12 noon the same working day and for all orders after 12 noon the following day. Standard delivery is via Whistl on a 3-5 day service, or choose the APC within 72 hours service for parts required urgently.

Returns:

Q: Can I send parts back for a refund if they do not fit or are unsuitable for my tap?

A: Please ensure that you are ordering the correct parts as they are not refundable once they have been fitted/used. Our customer support team are on hand if you need some help, call us on 01226 283434 (option 2). 
If the goods are returned in a re-saleable condition and are unopened and unused, we will offer a refund.
